Putting members’ health before profit

Peak body for not-for-profit, member owned and community based health insurers, hirmaa welcomes Transport Health as its 20th member fund

hirmaa, Australia’s peak body for not-for-profit, member-owned and community based health insurers, has welcomed Transport Health as its 20th member fund.

hirmaa CEO Matthew Koce welcomed Transport Health to the Association, describing their addition to the group as yet another demonstration of the growing strength and size of the not-for-profit health sector.

“Transport Health shares the goals and values common to all hirmaa funds, specifically a drive to offer the best possible health care to their members.”

The consistent customer focus of the hirmaa health insurers has been demonstrated time and again by independent research conducted by Discovery Research showing average 97% customer satisfaction for the participating hirmaa funds over the last 11 years.

Transport Health is an iconic health insurer that traces its origins back to 1888 when the founding organisation was established to serve the interests of Melbourne Tramway workers.

Transport Health is still based in Melbourne but is now an open fund, which means that membership is open to all Australians.

Simone Tregeagle, CEO of Transport Health described Transport Health’s focus as being a constant desire to provide the best possible service to members.

“Transport Health is entirely member focused and that drives everything we do. Consequently, we have a very different culture to the big listed for profit insurers that have to deliver dividends to shareholders.”

hirmaa represents 20 member funds that provide private health insurance for over one million Australians. A listing of all hirmaa member funds can be found at https://membershealth.com.au/our-funds/.
