St.LukesHealth joins hirmaa

hirmaa, Australia’s peak body for member-owned and community-based health insurers has announced that St.LukesHealth has officially joined its membership.

hirmaa funds now collectively provide health insurance to over one million Australians nation-wide.

hirmaa CEO Matthew Koce described St.LukesHealth as an outstanding health insurer and was delighted to see hirmaa’s representation grow to coverage of more than one million Australians across the country.

“It is great to see such a large portion of the Australian population choosing community-based and member-owned insurers.

St.LukesHealth shares the community and mutuality ethos that is common to all hirmaa funds so our membership is very pleased to have them on-board”.

Headquartered in Launceston Tasmania, St.LukesHealth has been providing private health insurance to Australians since 1952 and has a loyal membership base that extends around the country.

CEO of St.LukesHealth, Mr. Chris Williams said “St.LukesHealth is proud to call itself Tasmanian and offers the very highest standard of health insurance coverage.”

“Our commitment, to our members, is that we promise every man, woman and child, a relationship they can count on to help them stay healthy, get well and live better,” said Mr. Williams. Mr. Koce described St.LukesHealth as a natural fit for hirmaa.

“As with St.LukesHealth, hirmaa funds are member-owned and community-based health insurers that exist solely to serve the needs and expectations of their members, not to deliver a record dividend payout to shareholders.”

“It is therefore not surprising that the health insurers who choose hirmaa membership regularly achieve very high customer satisfaction results. This year participating hirmaa health insurers recorded a massive 98% customer satisfaction score, with Discovery Research independently collating more than 13,000 responses.”

Since its establishment in 1978, hirmaa has advocated on behalf of member-owned and communitybased health insurers.

In all, hirmaa has eighteen member funds that provide private health insurance for over one million Australians. A listing of all hirmaa member funds can be found at https://membershealth.com.au/our-funds/.
